Switching on and initializing the TOPODRONE laser scanner

After correct installation, the TOPODRONE laser scanner performs the power-up and initialization procedure. At the next step the data is written to the internal storage medium of the laser scanner. For initialization to be successful, it is necessary to have a GNSS signal, as well as to keep the device stationary until data recording begins. The first activation of the laser scanner may take longer to initialize than subsequent activations (when used in open terrain and with sufficient GNSS signal strength). As a rule, at the first start-up of the TOPODRONE laser scanner it takes no more than 60 seconds before the data recording starts. At subsequent start-ups the initialization procedure is faster (20-30 seconds). If you start moving along the route, initialization may not be correct during the movement.

It is necessary to check the LiDAR initialization status each time before launching the drone on an automatic mission or starting a walking route, as well as before finishing the work. If the initialization status is not displayed by constant green and blue LEDs after the route is completed, it means that the GNSS signal was lost during the route.   In this case, the data received from the TOPODRONE laser scanner will be unsuitable for further post-processing.
