Downloading data from TOPODRONE LiDAR
After successful initialization of the TOPODRONE laser scanner, it starts writing data to the internal high-speed memory. The internal memory of the TOPODRONE laser scanner is 256 GB. It is not designed to write data to an external storage device.
You can retrieve the recorded data by connecting an external USB Type-C connector to the TOPODRONE laser scanner. The recorded data can be unloaded one by one after each power-up or in batches after several power-ups.
Unloading data from TOPODRONE's internal memory :
- Disconnect the antenna cable or remove the GNSS antenna.
- Connect the power supply through the LEMO connector.
- Wait until the orange LED turns off and the green LED turns on.
- Make sure that there is enough free space on the external flash drive for downloading data.
- Connect the external flash drive directly to the USB Type-C connector or with the USB-OTG adapter (included in the package).
- If you connect the external flash drive during data recording (when the green and blue LEDs are lit) immediately after completing data collection, the TOPODRONE laser scanner will stop recording and start the process of uploading to the external flash drive.
- Make sure that the red LED on the TOPODRONE laser scanner lights up. This LED indicates the process of data transfer from the internal memory to the external USB flash drive.
- Wait until the red LED goes out and does not light up for 5 seconds.

Each activation of the laser scanner corresponds to one set of files and one data archive. After the archive rewriting is finished, the TOPODRONE laser scanner compares the checksums on the internal memory and on the external storage. If the checksums match, the data is deleted from the internal memory. After one set of data has been written, the red LED goes out for 1 second and lights up again if there is remaining data.
In case of loss of overwritten data on the external USB drive, it is impossible to unload it from the TOPODRONE LiDAR memory.
The data rewriting speed depends on the speed and remaining free space of the external USB flash drive, as well as the TOPODRONE laser scanner run time. When using a USB flash drive of USB Gen 3.2 class and a flight time of 20 minutes, the data rewriting time is 5 minutes for the 100 LITE and 12 minutes for the 200 ULTRA.
It is recommended to rewrite data after 1-5 flights or 1 hour when performing mobile laser scanning. To reduce the waiting time, power can be used via the included power supply without having to assemble and power up the aircraft.
